Coat & Skin Characteristics
• Coat Short, close to boy.

Frequency
Bathe once a week to once every 12 weeks.
Pre-Work
Trim or grind nails at least every four to six weeks to maintain a healthy foot
structure. Swab the ears clean with a mild ear cleaning solution. Prior to
bathing quickly go over the entire body with a high-velocity dryer to help lift
dirt and dander away from the skin and loosen any shedding coat.
Bathing
Use a regular, all-purpose shampoo followed by a skin conditioner, unless.
Another type of product is indicated massage the lather into all parts of the
body to ensure cleanliness. On an exceptionally dirty pet, a soft natural scrub
brush can be used. Use a gentle touch and follow the natural direction of coat
growth to quickly clean the dog.
Drying
A number of drying methods can be used on this coat type. Start with hand towel
drying. Follow with high-velocity drying to remove excess moisture and to blow
out any loose fur, using the most powerful setting the dog will tolerate.
Always keep one hand on the pet to help stabilize it during high-velocity
drying. Some Toy dogs cannot tolerate this drying method due to their size and
sensitivity. If the high-velocity dryer is tolerated, dry until no moisture is
being sprayed from the fur and/or no loose coat is being blown out. Finish with
a different drying method. Some stylists remove the condenser cone and continue
with the high-velocity dryer, holding the end of the nozzle right against the
skin. Work in one area, with the coat growth, until the coat in that area is
dry to the touch. Or, switch to natural air drying or kennel drying using a
low-temperature setting. Whatever process or combination of processes is used,
drying is not finished until the coat is completely cool and dry to the touch.
